How to make neon glow background on Figma prototype(hover state)

Making neon background could make your UI prototype looks more interesting. In this case, I redesign Starwar app and use Neon technique to make the background of the image look like “laser saber”

  • * tip ** chose the neo color that match to your background image. For example, I use color picker to chose the color from Mandalorain picture or red color form “the last jedi” picture

Make Hover state while mose over

step1: create the rectangle and place image on it

step2: copy the Mandolorain component and paste in outside the screen.

step3: add drop shadow effect on the Mandolorain frame. I use #00F0FF color and reduce opacity to 63%. Make it a bit blur (20) and Spread (5)

step4: (interaction prototype) link your Mandolorain image to the one that you paste outside the frame. Chose While hovering and open overlay

  • *Important** you have to drag the neon Mandolorain image and put in on the top of the original one. the position has to match perfectly

and now we can create neon background when the use hover the image.
